For New Year's Eve, a (select) few of us Americans were invited to the Italian compound for a good old-fashioned New Year's blowout. The Italian contingent has done a good job of creating a home away from home, with a little red and white striped pavilion and a true brick and stone floored pizza oven.
We stayed until shortly after midnight, ate tuna, anchovy, and finally, nutella pizza for dessert, and toasted the New Year with Coca-Colas and many a hearty "Felice Anno Nuovo!!"
I've got to admit, I'm plenty jealous of the Italian military's liberal facial hair policy.
With Policeman Joe.
