Over Thanksgiving this year our condo was empty for the first time since we bought it. We finally had a window to sneak in and do some deep cleaning and painting. Yes, I spent Thanksgiving playing with blue painter's tape and up to my elbows in green and blue and ivory, with little people trying to thwart my efforts. If you ever want an exercise in frustration get yourself a 700 sq foot apt, stuff it with furniture, suitcases and a family of five, and then start painting.

The fringe benefit of all this mess and craziness, was that there was no time or place to have Thanksgiving dinner. So we went out to eat at the Indian Gardens. We had some great food, I got my fix on Indian food, and I didn't have to cook or clean up.

While I was inside painting the kids went out exploring with dad. One thing we love about going to Chicago is that you can do the same things over and over again with the kids and it's new exhibits for us and most likely they don't remember what was there before so to them it is all new.
Johannes took the kids to the Art Institute, mostly because we get in free with out Military IDs. They have a whole wing which is always free for kids and has all sorts of activities. Matthijas made some art, and they also got to go in and see a Carravagio that was on display. I was jealous when they told me they saw a Carravagio exhibit, because he is one of my favorites, but it turned out to be just the one painting.

As always we have to stop off at Navy Pier. this time of year the ride are much too cold ( or closed) but the inside exhibits are lots of fun.

Daddy also took the kids to the Hancock tower to see the Winter Wonderland in the basement.

And last but not least we went to the German Christmas market to have tasty treats and the kids got to see Santa.
