Unlike a number of other churches, we don't baptize newborn babies, we bless them, and save the baptism for later when they turn 8 years old. Since we were headed to Boise for Erin's wedding we decided to bless our newest Claus at home rather than in Illinois. Because of the nature of blogs for many this may be the first you learn of Jasper. As a re-cap he was born in July and yes, he does have a long name like Johannes and Matthijas. You will have to read on to find out his full name. He is a bit of a chunk, a full pound larger than Matthijas even and so by the time he was three weeks old he couldn't fit into Matthijas' blessing outfit and so we had to go out the day before to Sarah Peterson's parents' store and find a new white blessing outfit. We got to hear about Sarah's fun in Sweden, but I digress.

ReplyDeleteYAY! Oh, what a joyous occasion for your cutie, Jasper. I still remember going to Matthias' blessing in NC. It was such a wonderful event to watch - - with family and friends enveloping your baby with love, and positive thoughts of protection and hope. Miss you guys!
