I'm out of order again. One of the first things we did was go to Cahokia Indian Mounds. We actually had been here before. After Johannes graduated from law school we went on a trip. Not one of the grand trips we had hoped for...we went to Memphis. On the way down from Chicago we went through St. Louis, went up the arch and came by Cahokia to see the mounds. Everyone learns about these in fourth grade when you study the US and native American cultures. So we stopped by. Now it's just down the road.
We had heard that they were doing a presentation for the summer solstice at the "Woodhenge" (see above) but it turned out to be nothing. I borrowed the picture below so you can see a better view of the mounds.
