Johannes won a turkey a few years ago. To do this he had to win a race. At the time had just been training for a marathon, so it was a good chance to get in an extra timed run. So he lead a 5K (3.2 mile) chase after that turkey and caught it.
This year he chased down another turkey.
For a $12 race fee we won a FREE turkey, and got a t-shirt (see how that works?) You can't tell from the pictures but there were a lot of people out at that race, but the serious racers were at the front. There were turkeys for the first and second place male and female winners. So according to this most recent race Johannes is the fastest man on campus (or base). We have never been able to determine if that's just good for him or a sad thing to say about the military fitness plans currently in effect, but no matter. We're proud of him and he's looking forward to stuffing that turkey that he "hunted" down himself.
