Thanksgiving

Johannes is very particular about Thanksgiving. He wants certain foods to be cooked and then cooked a certain way. So he is in charge of sweet potatoes, the pumpkin pie batter and the turkey, and I do the rest. Also, since I started out our marriage a vegetarian for many years, it is agreed that I never touch the bird. Here he is prepping his "Simon and Garfunkel" turkey. For the first time this year he brined the turkey, which made a big difference, and he always gives it a butter massage. He was so proud to have chased down that bird himself, then he cooked it, and even convinced his friend to eat the heart and liver with him.



Jasper has his first bites during Thanksgiving. We figured we'd start with cool whip, ice cream, jello. None of those went over very well, and then we tried pumpkin pie. After 3 bites he was grabbing the spoon and trying to shove it into his own mouth. We were rolling with laughter!



Another tradition of Johannes' that I don't participate in is Thanksgiving Monopoly. We keep our marriage together by not competing against each other in any way, shape or form. We also avoid trying to teach each other. Arcadia chose to play "CHICAGOPOLY" and pretty much gave everyone a fair beating.



Matthijas was excited to have his friend come over to play. When it was getting time for them to go to sleep they both decided to climb into my bed. Johannes walked in to tuck Matthijas in and found them wiggled all the way to the foot of the bed giggling. They agreed to surface when they knew they would be photographed.
