A view of the Bosphorus from our boat tour, and the Fortress of Europe, built by Mehmet II in 1452 in just over a month as a shrewd maneuver just before he invaded Constan-tinople.
(There is another one on the other side of the water known as, unsurprisingly, the Fortress of Asia since it is on the Asian side of the water. This one was built 50 years earlier in 1396.)
