Al Udeid AB, Qatar
Finally the time came for me to fly to the Gulf. In the afternoon of the 1st of November, our plane took off from Ramstein down to Al Udeid AB, Qatar. We touched down in Cypress, which is only a few hundred miles from where my family was in Turkey, and that was a depressing thought, but we couldn’t get off, and flew on to Qatar. Military traveling, with its checkpoints and in-processing is tiring, and we didn’t get to our sleeping tent until 6am. We were stuck there for two days, and except for the fact that there wasn’t a single living growing plant for miles around, it wasn’t too bad. There was a BX (military dep’t store) some American fast food places (everything was in a trailer) and even a movie theater. I watched a bunch of movies for free in two days. In the middle of it all is this giant pavilion that they call “the Bra”. Maybe you can see why.
