Picturesque Strasbourg

After we had toured the cathedral, we walked around the French district, where I found a perfect Christmas present for Jenean in a little shop. We walked along the riverbank, which also felt very French. At last we walked back to the car, got lost along the way, discovered the German part of town and after asking several people directions to the parking garage, I learned how to say bon après- midi or “good afternoon” in French. Before we got in the car, we passed a string of Turkish Doner shops, so we stopped in for a sandwich. The ladies working in the shop were confused by these two obviously American guys who said Nasilsiniz when we came in and asked for iki doner, tesek kuler when we ordered. Since they didn’t ask, we didn’t tell them how we knew Turkish, but they did understand what we were saying.
