"We walked down and saw some ancient graffiti. When the Christians would come into town and set up shop they would write the mark of the fish on marble (sometimes carved) so that other Christians would know that a Christian was there. "It was the beginnings of the Jesus fish we now see on the backs of peoples' cars. You will see the circle with lines through it. When you write all of the letters to IXOYE, meaning fish, on top of each other you make this symbol.
"A little later on, we saw some other classic graffiti, where someone had scribbled "Metallica" on a 2000 year old pillar so that others passing by would know that a metal-head had been there."
